LNG INFRASTRUCTURE
Composite pipe systems for LNG infrastructure
Enoflex enables a simpler LNG pipeline, using reeled composite pipe to reduce installation complexity and improve project economics.
THE APPLICATION
Update from press release LNG terminals rely on re-circulation and vapour return lines to manage boil-off and keep the system cold.
These lines are conventionally built from steel, welded on site, with expansion loops to absorb thermal movement.
That architecture adds installation time, welding cost and ongoing maintenance exposure.
THE ENGINEERING CHALLENGE
On-site welding
Steel recirculation lines are welded in place, adding time and cost.
Expansion loops
Steel's thermal movement has to be physically accommodated in the pipe run.
Installation constraints
Conventional pipe architecture limits how terminals can be laid out.
Conservative adoption
LNG infrastructure moves cautiously on new materials, qualification matters more than novelty.
ENOFLEX’S ROLE
Enoflex supplies SPC composite pipe for LNG re-circulation and vapour return, in a pipe-in-pipe architecture that removes on-site welding and expansion loops from the installation. The pipe is pulled through from a reel rather than built up section by section.
WHY COMPOSITE
Fewer installation steps
Reel-pulled pipe-in-pipe removes on-site welding entirely.
No expansion loops
Low thermal expansion means the pipe run doesn't need to accommodate movement the way steel does.
Smooth bore
Lower pressure drop across the re-circulation line.
Lightweight handling
Easier and faster to install than steel sections.
USE CASES
✔ LNG terminal recirculation lines
✔ Vapour return systems
✔ Pipe-in-pipe architecture for boil-off management
